Parts Of Speech

Verbs are action words. Verbs describe what is happening. these are all verbs:
run
eat
drink

Nouns are things you can see, hear, touch, smell or taste. You are a noun! these are all nouns:
house
school
sandwich
tree

Prepositions tell you where things are. They are often short words. these are all prepositions:
in
on
at
under

Adjectives tell you what a noun looks, sounds, feels, smells or tastes like. Adjectives give you more information about a noun these are all adjectives:
red
black
big
hungry
